Gentle Giants of Tatawa Kecil: Manta Rays at the Heart of Komodo National Park

Tatawa Kecil is a small island within the Komodo National Park, located between Komodo Island and Rinca Island. The strong ocean currents in the area make it a challenging dive, but those who brave it are rewarded with breathtaking marine life. On one particular dive, a group of divers encountered five manta rays gliding effortlessly through the sunlit waters.Manta rays are some of the ocean’s most majestic creatures, reaching up to 21 feet in width and weighing as much as 5,000 pounds. Unlike stingrays, they have no venom or stingers, making them completely harmless to humans. Their graceful movements and unique presence make them one of the most awe-inspiring species to observe in the wild.
