Reactivate

Haven’t been diving lately and want a quick scuba refresher? The ReActivate™ program is the perfect way to update your dive skills and knowledge from your Open Water Diver Course before jumping back into the water.

Whether you want a few reminders or need to go over the basics, ReActivate is personalized for you: You conveniently review scuba concepts online, then go diving in the pool with one of our instructors or divemasters. It’s quick and easy, and a good way to prepare for your next scuba course or get ready for a diving vacation. The best part is, PADI divers who complete both the eLearning and in-water skill refresher receive a replacement certification card with a ReActivated date on it. (Divers holding a certification from another certification agency will receive a ReActivate completion card.) Dive operators appreciate seeing a recent ReActivate date on your certification card because it means you’re ready to dive in.

Requirements

Any certified diver who wants a refresher or pre-travel update should ReActivate.

*Your certification does not expire. Participation in PADI ReActivate™ is not mandatory, but may be required by dive operators and is recommended as an easy way to refresh your foundation scuba safety knowledge and skills if you haven’t been diving in a while.

The Learning

Using PADI eLearning ReActivate Online, you’ll immerse yourself in dive scenarios and make decisions that test your understanding of important dive safety concepts, dive planning essentials and problem management. Move through ReActivate at your own pace and delve deeper into topics when you need or want to.

In the pool, your instructor or divemaster will help you regain comfort and confidence in scuba diving. You’ll practice a few safety-related skills and then go over anything you specifically want to review.

Important Medical Form

For your safety and to avoid delays in your course:

Download and Print the Diver Medical Form

Carefully read the form and answer the Medical History Questions honestly.

If you can answer "Yes" to question 3, 5, or 10, OR any question on page 2, then written clearance to dive, without restrictions, from a physician is required prior to any in-water activities. Immediately do the following:

  • Take or send all 3 pages of the form to your physician (MD or DO).

  • Ask your physician to complete the PHYSICIAN section on Page 3 of the form and return the form to you.
Student Divers who are professional physicians may not sign for approval on their own medical form.

  • Make a copy of the completed form and put it in a safe place. You may need it in the future.

  • Bring the completed original form to your first course session.

  • Give your completed Diver Medical Form to your instructor at your first course session. Otherwise, your training will be delayed.

For questions regarding your fitness to scuba dive, please speak with your physician. You and/or your physician can also speak with Diving Medicine Specialists at Divers Alert Network at no charge. Contact the Divers Alert Network (DAN) non-emergency medical information line at 919-684-2948 (Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm CT). Referrals to local diving and hyperbaric medicine specialists are available.

 The Gear

You will need your own mask, snorkel, dive boots, and fins. You may use your own scuba gear or ours including a regulator, BCD, weights and a scuba tank. Our staff will explain other equipment you may need to ReActivate.

The Next Step

Now that you've made the jump back into scuba diving, you may want to expand your diving opportunities even more with the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver courseRescue Diver course, or a specialty course. Ask your instructor or divemaster about the possibilities.
