Project Aware Classes

  • Project Aware Course

    The Project AWARE Specialty course is an introduction to Project AWARE as a global movement for ocean protection. The course focuses and expands on the 10 Tips for Divers to Protect the Ocean Planet to provide guidance and help individuals make a difference for ocean protection.

  • Project Aware Coral Conservation

    Project Aware Coral Conservation Course

    The Coral Reef Conservation Specialty course informs divers and nondivers about the plight of the world’s coral reefs. The course describes how coral reefs function and why they are so important. It also reviews why many reefs are in serious trouble and what individuals can do to prevent further decline. Most divers, snorkelers and environmental enthusiasts have already visited or plan to visit a coral reef. The Coral Reef Conservation Specialty course provides the knowledge base for proper interaction while touring a reef.

  • Dive Against Debris

    It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

  • Project Aware Shark Conservation

    The goal this course is to highlight shark conservation issues. Introduces you to sharks you might see on training dives. Since it can be rare to see sharks off the Charleston Coast you will be introduce to the common sharks which inhibit the Atlantic Coastal are . The aim of the training dives is for students:

    • Appraise a dive location for potential hazards to sharks and for features that may reduce impacts on sharks.

    • Looking at land and sea features which can impact sharks

    • After training dives report back to your instructor how dangerous or friendly the location is to sharks.

  • Project AWARE Foundation: 1989

    Our ocean conservation adventure started as a project – an environmental ethic initiated by PADI in the late 80’s. The founding mission of Project A.W.A.R.E was to teach the world about the importance and responsibility of preserving the aquatic environment.

  • Project AWARE: 1992

    With tremendous support from the dive community, Project AWARE Foundation was registered in 1992 as an independent 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in the U.S, established UK charity in 1999 and received formal nonprofit status in Australia in 2002.

  • PADI AWARE Foundation: 2021

    PADI AWARE Foundation is created as an official PADI entity, further strengthening 30 years of partnership. Together we work to mobilize the PADI Torchbearer Community and advance the AWARE mission to drive local action for global ocean conservation.
