DAN Course Policies and Student Agreement
Diver Alert Network Instructor Candidate Learning Agreement
Welcome to your DAN Instructor Program. As dive professional, you’re gained valuable experience by supervising or training individuals to dive. This program is designed to hence your skills and help you build a better trained and skill-equipped diving community. During these courses, you’ll learn the policies and methodology for teaching the variety of the DAN First Aid and Safety Course. Prior to any skill development session, you will need to complete the eLearning module to ensure that you are fully prepared. Signing this Learning Agreement indicates that you are aware of and accept this responsibility as well as the other DAN Instructor responsibilities as outlined by this agreement.
Payment in full is due prior to the start of the training course. Partial payment equal to the cost the training materials is required to reserve you place in a class. Course materials or eLearning links will not be available until the cost of the material is deposited for the class.
As an Instructor Candidate in the DAN Instructor Program, you agree to:
1. Complete all required resignation forms and submit documentation prior to the first class session including:
a. Evidence of being a Divemaster (or equivalent) or Dive Instructor in good standing with our certifying agency.
b. Evident of completing the perquisite DAN courses
c. Proof of CPR and first aid training within the past 24 hours – unless included in your training bundle.
2. Complete all assigned eLearning modules prior to the first Skills Development session.
3. Ask questions about anything that you do not understand.
4. Show up for all sessions on time and be prepared for all teaching assignments.
5. Be openminded and display a professional attitude and demeanor during this program.
6. Be flexible to schedule changes.
In you arrive at class without completed assignments, or if you fail arrive on time, it may be necessary to make up the work and continue the program at a later date. You will be responsible for any additional costs and/or inconvenience this causes. In scheduling and determining additional cost, your Instructor Trainer agrees to give every reasonable consideration to unforeseen events such as family emergencies that lead to this situation.
The Instructor Trainer and staff agree to:
1. Start the class as scheduled.
2. Provide a positive learning environment in which to master the program objectives.
3. Answer your questions to best of their ability.
4. Assist you through learning challenges.
All program objectives must be met before your instructor will certify you in course(s) that you have enrolled. In a situation where you are unable to meet all program requirements, additional training sessions may be needed. Logistics and costs for additional training sessions are determined on a cost-by-cost basis.
